Name: Silicon Image SiI 3531 SATA Controller Driver
Author: Silicon Image

Question 1

Installer fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Verify the package matches your Windows version and 32/64-bit architecture. Run setup as administrator; for legacy unsigned drivers, use compatibility mode or temporarily disable driver signature enforcement. If setup still fails, extract the INF and update the driver via Device Manager.

Question 2

Controller not detected?

Accepted Answer

Reseat the SiI 3531 card, check SATA power/data cables, and confirm BIOS/Device Manager enumeration. Match the Hardware ID `PCIVEN_1095&DEV_3531`; try another PCI slot and disable conflicting onboard SATA/RAID controllers.

Question 3

Driver/version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older Silicon Image SiI drivers and remove hidden devices before installing the 3531-specific package. Avoid mixing multiple SiI driver versions; if Windows loads a generic driver, manually update using the correct Hardware ID.
