Name: SigmaTel USB IrDA Adapter Driver
Author: SigmaTel

Question 1

Install fails or driver won’t load?

Accepted Answer

Legacy SigmaTel USB IrDA drivers may be unsigned or incompatible with modern Windows. Run the installer in compatibility mode, or install manually via Device Manager. Only disable driver signature enforcement if you trust the package.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Try another USB port and confirm the adapter appears in Device Manager. Check for unknown devices, enable “Show hidden devices,” and scan for hardware changes. If your system has IrDA settings in BIOS or Windows, make sure infrared support is enabled.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Windows may load a generic IrDA/serial driver or replace the SigmaTel driver. Uninstall the old device and driver, reboot, then install the matching SigmaTel package. After installation, prevent Windows Update from automatically swapping the driver.
