Name: SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC Driver
Author: SigmaTel

Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

SigmaTel HD Audio drivers are often OEM-specific. Download the package for your exact laptop/desktop model and Windows version/bitness, run setup as administrator, and check Device Manager for the error code. Remove any partially installed SigmaTel entry before retrying.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Confirm HD Audio is enabled in BIOS, then in Device Manager select View > Show hidden devices, uninstall ghost audio entries, and scan for hardware changes. Reboot and verify the Microsoft HD Audio bus driver is present.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall existing SigmaTel/Realtek audio drivers with Delete driver software checked, reboot, then install only one SigmaTel package. Prevent Windows Update from silently replacing it with a generic driver if sound breaks afterward.
