Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Old SigmaTel C-Major packages often conflict with existing HD Audio drivers. Uninstall any previous SigmaTel/C-Major entry in Device Manager, reboot, then run setup as administrator in compatibility mode for the package’s intended Windows version.

Question 2

Device not detected / no sound?

Accepted Answer

Confirm onboard audio is enabled in BIOS and not muted by front-panel jack detection. In Device Manager, look for “Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus”; update that child device rather than the generic Microsoft HD Audio driver.

Question 3

Version conflicts or Code 10/43?

Accepted Answer

Remove duplicate SigmaTel drivers via Programs and Features, roll back to the Microsoft HD Audio driver, reboot, and reinstall only one C-Major package. Avoid mixing Dell/OEM and generic SigmaTel releases.
