Question 1

Install fails or stalls?

Accepted Answer

Run the Sharp AR M258 PCL 6 setup as administrator. Remove any existing “Sharp AR M258” print queue, restart the Print Spooler, then reinstall using the official PCL 6 package—not a generic PCL driver.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Verify the USB cable/port or network IP address. For network use, create a Standard TCP/IP port for the M258. Power-cycle the MFP and connect the cable during installation.

Question 3

Driver version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove old Sharp AR M258 PCL5/PS drivers and duplicate queues via Print Server Properties > Drivers. Clear the spooler, then install only the current PCL 6 driver.
