Question 1

Install fails or stalls?

Accepted Answer

Disconnect the Sharp AL 1641CS USB cable, run the Sharp installer as administrator, remove any existing “AL 1641CS” printer queue and old Sharp drivers, reboot, then reconnect only when setup prompts.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Use a known-good USB 2.0 cable in a direct rear port—not a hub—and power the copier on before booting Windows. Check Device Manager for an unknown Sharp device; if present, update that entry with the AL 1641CS driver.

Question 3

Driver/version conflicts or scanning errors?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall duplicate Sharp printer/scanner drivers, install the package matching your Windows version and bitness, restart the Print Spooler, then re-add the AL 1641CS. For scan failures, confirm the Sharp TWAIN/WIA scanner driver is installed.
