Name: Seagate FreeAgent Go USB Device Driver
Author: Seagate

Question 1

Install fails or stalls?

Accepted Answer

Disconnect other USB drives, run the installer as administrator, and remove older Seagate Manager/DiscWizard versions before retrying. If Windows reports a driver error, uninstall the device in Device Manager (with “Delete driver software” checked), reboot, and reconnect.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Use a rear USB port directly, replace the USB cable, and avoid unpowered hubs. Open Disk Management; if the FreeAgent Go appears without a letter, assign one, or check for an offline/uninitialized disk.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

The FreeAgent Go uses Windows’ built-in USB mass-storage driver. Remove duplicate “USB Mass Storage Device” entries in Device Manager and update motherboard USB/chipset drivers; do not force older Seagate drivers on Windows 10/11.
