Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Run the SCR3340 driver installer as administrator and use the correct 32/64-bit package for your Windows version. Close smart-card middleware first, remove any older reader software, then reboot before reinstalling.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Reseat the ExpressCard54 reader firmly in a powered slot and check Device Manager for unknown devices. Update the laptop’s ExpressCard/chipset drivers, try another ExpressCard slot, and confirm Smart Card service is running.

Question 3

Version conflicts after upgrade?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall previous SCR3340/reader drivers, remove hidden devices in Device Manager, reboot, and install only the current manufacturer package. Avoid mixing generic Windows smart-card drivers with vendor middleware.
