Name: Scientific Atlanta WebSTAR 2000 Series Cable Modem Driver
Author: Scientific-Atlanta

Question 1

Install fails on modern Windows?

Accepted Answer

The WebSTAR 2000 driver package is legacy and may be unsigned or blocked. Run the installer as administrator in Windows 7 compatibility mode; if setup still fails, temporarily disable driver signature enforcement, install, then re-enable it.

Question 2

Modem not detected?

Accepted Answer

Confirm the modem is powered, coax is connected, and the cable/online LEDs are solid. Reseat the USB/Ethernet cable, try another port (prefer rear USB 2.0), and use Device Manager > Scan for hardware changes. If USB is unreliable, connect via Ethernet.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall any previous Scientific-Atlanta/WebSTAR modem driver and remove hidden modem/USB devices in Device Manager, reboot, then install only the matching 2000 Series package. Avoid letting Windows Update replace it with a generic driver.
