Question 1

Driver install fails?

Accepted Answer

Modern AMD Adrenalin packages do not support the HD 5970. Use a legacy Catalyst driver for your Windows version, run the installer as administrator, and try compatibility mode if setup exits early.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check the card’s 8-pin and 6-pin PCIe power connections, reseat it in the slot, and verify the PSU has enough power. Since the HD 5970 is dual-GPU, connect the monitor to the primary output.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove old AMD/NVIDIA driver remnants with DDU in Safe Mode, disable Windows automatic driver updates, then install the correct legacy package before reconnecting to the network.
