Name: Sapphire HD 5830 Driver
Author: Sapphire

Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

The Sapphire HD 5830 is legacy; modern AMD Adrenalin packages don’t support it. Use the last official Catalyst/legacy driver for Radeon HD 5000 series that matches your Windows version, run as admin, and temporarily disable antivirus if extraction is blocked.

Question 2

Device not detected or stuck at basic resolution?

Accepted Answer

Reseat the card, connect both PCIe power connectors, and plug the monitor into the HD 5830—not onboard video. Check Device Manager for “Standard VGA” or Code 43, then reinstall the legacy driver.

Question 3

Version conflicts or BSODs after updates?

Accepted Answer

Windows Update may overwrite the legacy driver. Remove old AMD/NVIDIA drivers with DDU in Safe Mode, install the HD 5830 driver, then pause driver updates or create a rollback point.
