Name: Saitek R220 Digital Wheel (USB) Driver
Author: Saitek

Question 1

Installer fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Run the Saitek R220 setup as administrator and, for older packages, in Windows 7 compatibility mode. Temporarily disable antivirus during install. If setup still fails, remove any previous Saitek/Mad Catz software and reboot before retrying.

Question 2

Wheel not detected?

Accepted Answer

Connect the R220 directly to a rear USB 2.0 port, not a hub. In Device Manager, check for “Unknown USB Device” or HID entries; uninstall them, unplug/replug the wheel, and let Windows re-enumerate it. Test another USB cable/port if possible.

Question 3

Version/device conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall old Saitek drivers and control software, remove hidden devices in Device Manager, and reboot. Install only the R220-compatible package; avoid mixing generic HID and Saitek drivers. Recalibrate in Windows after installation.
