Name: S3 ProSavage Driver
Author: S3

Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

The legacy S3 ProSavage package may lack a modern signed driver. Run setup as administrator, use Windows compatibility mode for the target OS, or install manually via Device Manager > Update driver > Browse and select the extracted INF. Install chipset drivers first.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Confirm the ProSavage display adapter is enabled in BIOS (integrated graphics/AGP aperture), reseat any card, and check Device Manager for unknown VGA devices. Install the motherboard chipset driver before the graphics driver.

Question 3

Version conflicts / Code 43?

Accepted Answer

Remove existing S3 or generic VGA drivers with “Delete the driver software,” reboot, then install the matching ProSavage package. Prevent Windows Update from replacing it with a generic driver.
