Author: S3

Question 1

Installer fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Run the S3 Chrome 440 GTX package as administrator and in compatibility mode for your Windows version. Confirm the 32/64-bit package matches your OS, temporarily disable antivirus, and remove existing S3 Graphics entries in Device Manager before retrying.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check Device Manager under “Display adapters” or “Other devices.” Reseat the card, connect the monitor to the Chrome 440 GTX output, and verify PCIe/display is enabled in BIOS. On older systems, disable onboard graphics if it conflicts.

Question 3

Version conflicts or Windows Update overwrites?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall prior S3 Chrome drivers and select “Delete driver software,” restart, then install the downloaded package. Prevent Windows Update from auto-replacing the display driver, or roll back via Device Manager if it reappears.
