Name: S3 ATI Technologies Inc. ATI 264VT2 PCI Driver
Author: S3

Question 1

Install fails or stops with an unsigned/legacy driver error?

Accepted Answer

Run the setup as administrator in Windows compatibility mode, or install manually via Device Manager → Update driver → Browse → Have Disk and point to the correct ATI 264VT2 INF.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Reseat the PCI card, check BIOS for IRQ/resource conflicts, disable onboard or conflicting VGA devices, and confirm the Hardware ID matches the ATI 264VT2 PCI entry rather than another S3/VGA adapter.

Question 3

Version conflicts or Code 10/43?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall existing ATI/S3/generic VGA drivers, remove hidden display devices, reboot, then install the matching legacy driver. Avoid letting Windows Update replace it with a generic VGA driver.
