Author: Ralink

Question 1

Installer fails or hangs?

Accepted Answer

Run the RT2860 setup as Administrator and in Windows 7 compatibility mode. If Windows blocks the legacy unsigned driver, temporarily disable driver signature enforcement, install, then re-enable it.

Question 2

Adapter not detected?

Accepted Answer

In Device Manager, check for “Network Controller” with a warning. Right-click > Update driver > Browse, and point to the extracted RT2860 INF folder. Reseat the Wi-Fi card/adapter and reboot.

Question 3

Version conflicts or Windows Update overwrites?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall existing Ralink/MediaTek Wi-Fi drivers and utilities, reboot, then install the RT2860 package. In Device Manager, use Roll Back Driver or uninstall with “Delete driver software” before reinstalling.
