Author: Proxim

Question 1

Installer fails or driver is rejected?

Accepted Answer

The Proxim Orinoco 8670 is a legacy wireless PC Card adapter. Run the Proxim installer as Administrator in Windows XP/Vista compatibility mode; on 64-bit Windows, temporarily disable driver signature enforcement before installing.

Question 2

Adapter not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check Device Manager for an unknown network device or PC Card entry. Reseat the 8670 in the slot, confirm the PC Card/CardBus controller is enabled, then install the correct Proxim driver manually via “Update driver” > browse.

Question 3

Version conflicts or connection drops?

Accepted Answer

Remove any existing Orinoco/Proxim client utility and old driver entries, reboot, then install one matching driver package. Avoid mixing Windows Update generic drivers with the Proxim utility.
