Question 1

Install fails or Code 10/43?

Accepted Answer

Disconnect the adapter, uninstall any existing Prolific driver in Device Manager (select “Delete driver software”), reboot, then install the current Prolific driver as administrator before reconnecting.

Question 2

Device not detected / COM port missing?

Accepted Answer

Try another USB port and cable. Confirm Device Manager shows “Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port.” If it shows “Unknown device,” reinstall USB/chipset drivers and check the adapter for damage or a non-genuine PL2303 chip.

Question 3

Version conflicts / yellow exclamation mark?

Accepted Answer

Older PL2303 drivers can conflict with Windows 10/11 or newer chip revisions. Remove old Prolific entries, install the driver version matching your PL2303 variant (TA/HXD/RA), then set the correct COM port in your serial software.
