Question 1

Install fails or Windows blocks the driver?

Accepted Answer

Run the Prolific installer as administrator, reboot, and use the WHQL-signed PL2303 driver package matching your Windows version. Remove any previous Prolific driver first.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check the USB cable/port and avoid unpowered hubs. In Device Manager, look for “Unknown device” or a Prolific entry with a warning; uninstall it, reconnect the adapter, and rescan for hardware.

Question 3

Version conflicts / Code 10 or 31?

Accepted Answer

Multiple PL2303 drivers can conflict. Uninstall all Prolific entries, including hidden devices, then install one driver matching the chip revision (PL2303TA/RA/SA vs HXA). Some HXA adapters need an older driver or replacement on Windows 11.
