Name: Prolific PL 2301 Driver
Author: Prolific

Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

The PL-2301 is a USB-to-USB bridge cable, not a serial adapter. Remove any existing Prolific PL2303 serial driver, then install the PL-2301 bridge driver as Administrator. If Windows blocks an older package, use the signed release for your OS or install the INF manually via Device Manager.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Connect the cable directly to native USB ports on both PCs, not through a hub or extension cable. Confirm it is a data-transfer cable, not charge-only, and check Device Manager for an unknown USB bridge device.

Question 3

Version conflicts or dropped connection?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall all existing Prolific USB bridge entries, including hidden devices, reboot, and install only one PL-2301 driver version. Avoid mixing PL2303 and PL2301 packages; disable USB selective suspend if connections drop.
