Question 1

Install fails or driver won’t bind?

Accepted Answer

Install the latest Pololu Maestro Control Center as administrator and keep the Maestro unplugged until setup finishes. Don’t manually force an unknown driver. If Windows shows a yellow warning, uninstall the device in Device Manager, reboot, then rerun the Pololu installer.

Question 2

Maestro or COM4 not detected?

Accepted Answer

Use a known-good USB cable and avoid unpowered hubs. Check Device Manager under Ports for “Pololu Mini Maestro… Command Port.” If missing, rescan hardware; if present with an error, update/reinstall the Pololu driver. Close Maestro Control Center or any serial terminal that may be holding COM4.

Question 3

Version/COM conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove older Pololu USB drivers and Control Center versions before installing the current release. If COM4 is assigned to another device, change the Maestro’s COM port in Device Manager or let Windows reassign it, then reconnect.
