Name: PLDS DVD RW DS 8A5SH SATA CdRom Device Driver
Author: PLDS

Question 1

Driver install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Windows normally provides the optical drive driver. If a PLDS DVD RW DS 8A5SH package fails, uninstall the old CD/DVD device in Device Manager, reboot, and let Windows reinstall its inbox driver. Run any installer as administrator.

Question 2

Drive not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check the SATA data and power cables, try another SATA port, and confirm in BIOS/UEFI that the port is enabled and set to AHCI or the mode used when Windows was installed. Then scan for hardware changes in Device Manager.

Question 3

Version/conflict errors (Code 19/39/31)?

Accepted Answer

Remove third-party burning or virtual-drive software and old PLDS driver entries. Uninstall the device, reboot, and avoid forcing a legacy driver; use Windows Update/inbox `cdrom.sys` unless the vendor supplies a build-specific driver.
