Question 1

Install fails or stalls?

Accepted Answer

Disconnect the Plantronics Audio 628 USB headset, run the installer as administrator, and temporarily disable antivirus. If Windows blocks the package, use Device Manager → Update driver → browse to the extracted driver folder.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Plug the headset directly into another USB port, not a hub. In Device Manager, remove any “Unknown device” or duplicate audio/HID entries, then unplug and reconnect so Windows reinstalls it. Confirm the headset is selected as playback/recording device.

Question 3

Version conflicts or wrong audio routing?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older Plantronics software and duplicate USB audio drivers, reboot, then install the matching Audio 628 USB package. Set the headset as default and disable other playback devices if sound routes incorrectly.
