Name: Plantronics Audio 478 USB Driver
Author: Plantronics

Question 1

Install fails or stalls?

Accepted Answer

Disconnect the headset, run the Plantronics installer as administrator, and temporarily disable antivirus. If Windows already bound the generic USB Audio driver, update it via Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers > Plantronics Audio 478 > Update driver.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Use a rear USB 2.0 port directly, not a hub. Check Device Manager for unknown/USB errors, uninstall the faulty entry, reconnect the headset, and let Windows re-enumerate it.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove older Plantronics software and duplicate USB audio entries in Device Manager, reboot, then install the version matching your Windows build. Set the Audio 478 as default playback/recording device and disable exclusive-mode conflicts if apps cannot access it.
