Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall any older Pinnacle capture software/drivers first, reboot, then run the installer as administrator. For legacy packages, use Windows compatibility mode; if the driver is unsigned, temporarily disable driver signature enforcement during install.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Connect the Pinnacle 710 USB directly to a rear USB 2.0 port, not a hub. Try another cable/port, then check Device Manager for an unknown USB video device and manually point it to the extracted INF driver.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove duplicate Pinnacle/PCTV capture devices in Device Manager (including hidden devices), reboot, and install only one matching 32/64-bit driver package. Prevent Windows Update from replacing it with a generic USB video driver if capture software fails.
