Author: Philips

Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Run the setup as administrator and, for older packages, use Windows Compatibility Mode. Close third-party burning suites during install; they can lock the optical drive’s filter drivers.

Question 2

Drive not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check the ATA cable and power connection, plus master/slave jumper settings if IDE. Confirm the correct IDE/ATA mode in BIOS, then use Device Manager > Scan for hardware changes.

Question 3

Version conflicts or duplicate entries?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall old Philips/ATAPI entries in Device Manager, reboot, and let Windows load its native CD/DVD driver. Avoid stacking multiple driver packages; roll back if a newer one breaks reading or burning.
