Question 1

Install fails or driver won’t load?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall any existing USB serial driver for the FingerKeeper, reboot, then run the vendor installer as administrator. If Windows blocks it, check driver signature enforcement and use the signed vendor package.

Question 2

Device not detected / no COM port?

Accepted Answer

Try a different USB port and cable, then check Device Manager for unknown devices or port errors. Confirm the FingerKeeper appears as a USB Serial device and that COM8 is assigned; if not, update the driver from Device Manager.

Question 3

COM port conflict or version mismatch?

Accepted Answer

Remove stale COM port assignments and old driver versions in Device Manager, then reinstall the current manufacturer driver. Reboot and reselect the correct COM port in the fingerprint software.
