Question 1

Install fails or says “no supported hardware”?

Accepted Answer

The M577 is a legacy motherboard, so newer Windows may block its chipset/IDE INF. Extract the package, run setup as administrator, and use Device Manager > Update driver > Browse/Have Disk to point directly at the .inf.

Question 2

Onboard devices not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check BIOS for disabled IDE, audio, or chipset features; load optimized defaults. Install the chipset INF before audio/IDE drivers so Windows can enumerate the board’s PCI/ISA devices.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Don’t mix 9x/XP or generic VIA/SiS packages with board-specific M577 drivers. Roll back or uninstall the old IDE/chipset driver, reboot, then install the package matching your Windows version and board revision.
