Question 1

Install fails or Device Manager shows Code 10/31?

Accepted Answer

Remove old/hidden optical-drive entries, reboot, then run the Optiarc installer as administrator. If Windows blocks the driver, use the built-in CD/DVD driver until a compatible package is available.

Question 2

Drive not detected?

Accepted Answer

Confirm BIOS/UEFI sees the AD 7280S, check ATA/SATA power and data cables, and keep the controller mode consistent (IDE/AHCI). Rescan hardware in Device Manager; avoid hot-swapping the optical drive.

Question 3

Version conflicts after Windows updates?

Accepted Answer

Roll back or uninstall the current driver with “Delete the driver software,” reboot, let Windows install its inbox driver, then reinstall the correct Optiarc package for your Windows version and bitness.
