Name: Optiarc DVD RW AD 7173A ATA Device Driver
Author: Optiarc

Question 1

Drive not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check the IDE/SATA and power cables, confirm BIOS detects the AD-7173A, then use Device Manager > Scan for hardware changes. If error 19/39 appears, remove optical-drive UpperFilters/LowerFilters registry entries and reboot.

Question 2

Install fails or Code 10/28?

Accepted Answer

Avoid forcing an old Optiarc package; Windows’ built-in CD/DVD driver usually works. Run any installer as administrator in compatibility mode, update chipset/storage drivers, then reinstall the device.

Question 3

Version conflicts after Windows updates?

Accepted Answer

Roll back the optical drive driver in Device Manager, or uninstall it and reboot so Windows reinstalls the generic driver. Do not mix old Optiarc and Microsoft drivers; update firmware only from Optiarc if needed.
