Question 1

Drive not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check the power/data cable and IDE jumper setting (Master/Slave/Cable Select) or SATA port. Enable the ATA/ATAPI controller in BIOS, then use Device Manager > Scan for hardware changes. Try another cable or port.

Question 2

Install fails or shows Code 10/39?

Accepted Answer

Remove old optical-drive entries in Device Manager, restart, and let Windows load its generic CD/DVD driver. Run any installer as administrator and confirm the IDE/ATA controller driver is present.

Question 3

Version conflicts after updating?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall the current AD-7170A device driver, reboot, then reinstall the correct Optiarc/Windows-compatible package. Avoid mixing old firmware utilities with newer drivers; update firmware only from a trusted source.
