Name: Optiarc DVD RW AD 5970H ATA Device Driver
Author: Optiarc

Question 1

Drive not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check that the Optiarc AD-5970H appears in BIOS/UEFI. Reseat the SATA/power cables or try another SATA port. In Device Manager, scan for hardware changes; if the drive has a warning, uninstall it and reboot so Windows reloads the optical-drive driver.

Question 2

Install fails?

Accepted Answer

This DVD writer usually uses Windows’ built-in CD/DVD driver, so avoid unrelated “driver packs.” Run any Optiarc firmware/installer as administrator, confirm it matches the exact AD-5970H model, and check Event Viewer for the failure code.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove old Nero/ROXIO/Optiarc filter drivers if the drive misbehaves after a Windows upgrade. Uninstall the device, reboot, let Windows reinstall the native driver, then update firmware only if needed.
