Name: Optiarc DVD ROM DDU1681S ATA Device Driver
Author: Optiarc

Question 1

Installer fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

This DVD-ROM normally uses Windows’ native CD-ROM/ATA driver, not a separate Optiarc package. Run any installer as admin only if it matches your Windows version; otherwise use Device Manager > Update driver > Browse > Let me pick, and select the standard CD-ROM drive driver.

Question 2

Drive not detected?

Accepted Answer

Confirm BIOS/UEFI sees the DDU1681S, reseat the SATA/ATA cable and power connector, and check Device Manager for a yellow mark. Use Scan for hardware changes; if still missing, try another SATA port and verify the BIOS SATA mode.

Question 3

Version conflicts or code errors?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall the device with “Delete the driver software,” reboot, and rescan. If Code 19/31 persists, remove stale optical-drive filter entries only after backing up the registry.
