Question 1

Installer fails or hangs?

Accepted Answer

Run any Optiarc package as administrator and in compatibility mode for its target Windows version. If setup still fails, use Device Manager > Update driver > Browse my computer > Let me pick > CD/DVD drive, or rely on Windows’ native `cdrom.sys` for this BD-ROM.

Question 2

Drive not detected?

Accepted Answer

Confirm the BC-5550H appears in BIOS/UEFI. Reseat the SATA/power connection or slim-line adapter, try another port, then Device Manager > Scan for hardware changes. If it shows a warning, uninstall the device and reboot.

Question 3

Version/firmware conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove older Optiarc/NEC driver or firmware utilities before installing a new package. Use Device Manager > Roll Back Driver if an update breaks reads; do not flash firmware unless it explicitly matches BC-5550H.
