Name: Optiarc BD ROM BC 5500S ATA Device Driver
Author: Optiarc

Question 1

Install fails or setup stops?

Accepted Answer

This BD-ROM uses Windows’ native ATAPI/AHCI driver, so most “driver” installers are unnecessary. Run any vendor package as administrator, match 32/64-bit Windows, and temporarily disable third-party driver-updater tools; if setup still fails, install via Device Manager > Update driver > Browse.

Question 2

Drive not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check power and SATA/ATA data cable, try another SATA port, and confirm the BC-5500S appears in BIOS/UEFI. In Windows, rescan in Device Manager; if it shows with a warning, uninstall the device and restart so Windows reloads the ATAPI driver.

Question 3

Version conflicts/errors after update?

Accepted Answer

Remove older Optiarc or generic optical-driver packages, roll back the driver in Device Manager, and let Windows use the standard AHCI/ATAPI driver. Avoid stacking multiple driver updaters.
