Question 1

Install fails or stalls?

Accepted Answer

Run the installer as administrator and ensure the SATA/ATA controller driver is installed first. For this internal Blu-ray drive, disconnect other optical drives during setup to avoid controller conflicts.

Question 2

Drive not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check SATA power/data cables and BIOS SATA mode (AHCI/IDE). In Device Manager, scan for hardware changes; if listed with an error, uninstall the device and restart so Windows reloads the optical-drive driver.

Question 3

Version conflicts or playback issues?

Accepted Answer

Remove old Optiarc/Windows optical-drive entries, then let Windows install its generic Blu-ray/DVD driver. Update firmware only from the correct BC-5500H package; Blu-ray movie playback still requires compatible playback software.
