Author: OmniKey

Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Run the OmniKey driver installer as administrator and confirm it matches your Windows version/architecture. Remove any older OmniKey/CardMan package first, then reboot before reinstalling.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check Device Manager under “Smart card readers” or USB controllers. Try a different USB port directly on the PC, avoid unpowered hubs, and ensure the Windows Smart Card service (`SCardSvr`) is running.

Question 3

Driver/version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall existing OmniKey/CardMan drivers and remove stale device entries, then reinstall one compatible driver. If the reader is CCID-compliant, Windows’ built-in smart card driver may work; avoid mixing vendor and generic drivers.
