Name: Olympus WS 801 Driver
Author: Olympus

Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

The WS-801 normally uses Windows’ built-in USB mass-storage driver, so don’t force an old Olympus driver. Run any Olympus software installer as administrator, disconnect other USB audio devices, reboot, then reconnect the recorder.

Question 2

Recorder not detected?

Accepted Answer

Use a known data-capable USB cable and try a rear motherboard port. Confirm the WS-801 is in USB storage/PC connection mode and not locked. Check Device Manager for “Unknown USB Device” and reinstall the USB controller if needed.

Question 3

Version/driver conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older Olympus voice-recorder software and any yellow-marked Olympus/USB entries in Device Manager before installing the current package. If Windows assigns a generic driver, let it—the WS-801 should appear as a removable drive.
