Question 1

Install fails or stalls?

Accepted Answer

Disconnect the WS 700M, uninstall older Olympus Sonority/DSS Player, reboot, then run the downloaded installer as administrator with antivirus temporarily disabled.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Use the recorder’s direct USB connector or a known data cable—not a charge-only cable or hub. Set the WS 700M’s USB connection mode to PC/Storage, try a rear USB 2.0 port, and check Device Manager for unknown USB devices.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove old Olympus drivers/software before installing the current package for your Windows version; don’t mix 32-bit and 64-bit installs. After installation, reconnect the recorder and confirm it appears as removable storage.
