Author: Olympus

Question 1

Driver install fails on Windows 10/11?

Accepted Answer

The Olympus VN 240PC uses an older legacy USB driver. Run the installer as administrator in Windows XP/7 compatibility mode, reboot, and check Device Manager for a yellow warning. If blocked, use a supported Windows version or virtual machine.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Use a data-capable USB cable, not charge-only. Set the VN 240PC to PC/USB connection mode, connect directly to a rear USB 2.0 port, and avoid unpowered hubs. Reinstall the driver if Device Manager shows an unknown USB device.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall any previous Olympus DSS Player, USB Audio, or VN-series drivers first, reboot, then install only the package for the VN 240PC. Do not mix drivers from other Olympus recorders.
