Name: Olympus Stylus 740 Driver
Author: Olympus

Question 1

Installation fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

The Stylus 740’s older Olympus USB driver may be blocked on 64-bit Windows. Run the installer as administrator in Windows 7 compatibility mode, and remove previous Olympus driver entries in Device Manager before retrying.

Question 2

Camera not detected?

Accepted Answer

Confirm the Stylus 740 is in PC/Storage mode, use a known-good USB cable directly to a rear motherboard port (not a hub), and check Device Manager for an unknown USB device. Try another cable/port before reinstalling.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Mixing old Olympus Master/ib software with newer Windows camera drivers can cause errors. Uninstall existing Olympus software and camera drivers, reboot, then install one Windows-compatible package only; avoid running Olympus software and Windows Camera simultaneously.
