Question 1

Install fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Run the Nikon driver/software installer as administrator, close Nikon Transfer/ViewNX and antivirus temporarily, disconnect the D3200, then reconnect only when prompted. If setup still fails, uninstall previous Nikon software and reboot.

Question 2

D3200 not detected?

Accepted Answer

Use a direct rear USB port and the camera’s USB cable—no hub. Power on the camera, check Device Manager for “Unknown device,” and try another cable/port. Confirm the D3200 is in the correct USB/MTP mode and not playback-only.

Question 3

Version conflicts after Windows update?

Accepted Answer

In Device Manager, uninstall the existing Nikon/portable-device driver, reboot, reconnect the D3200, and let Windows install its inbox camera driver. Install only one Nikon transfer utility version, then test import.
