Name: Nikon COOLPIX Driver
Author: Nikon

Question 1

Driver install fails?

Accepted Answer

Many COOLPIX models rely on Windows’ built-in MTP/WIA driver, so third-party installers may fail. Disconnect the camera, run the Nikon installer as administrator, reboot, then reconnect directly to a USB 2.0 port.

Question 2

Camera not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check the COOLPIX setup menu and set USB to MTP/PTP or Mass Storage to match your software. Use the original Nikon USB cable, avoid hubs, and try another port.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove old Nikon software and any stale COOLPIX entry in Device Manager, then reconnect. Avoid forcing an older driver over Windows’ inbox driver; use only the model-specific download from Nikon.
