Author: Nikon

Question 1

Install fails on Windows 10/11?

Accepted Answer

Older Nikon packages may reject newer Windows versions. Run the installer as administrator, use Windows compatibility mode for the listed OS, and reboot before retrying.

Question 2

Camera not detected?

Accepted Answer

Confirm the Coolpix S6500 is powered on, battery charged, and set to the correct USB mode (PTP/Mass Storage). Try a different USB cable and a rear motherboard port; check Device Manager for an unknown camera or MTP device.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older Nikon software and any existing Coolpix/USB camera drivers, restart, then let Windows install its generic camera driver before reinstalling the Nikon package. Avoid mixing drivers from different Windows versions.
