Author: Nikon

Question 1

Installer fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Run the Nikon driver/software installer as administrator. On Windows 10/11, try Windows 7 compatibility mode, temporarily disable antivirus, and uninstall older Nikon Transfer/ViewNX versions before retrying.

Question 2

Camera not detected?

Accepted Answer

Connect the COOLPIX S52c directly to a rear USB 2.0 port—not a hub—and try a known-good cable. Set the camera’s USB mode to Mass Storage rather than PTP, then check Device Manager for an unknown device and reinstall the driver.

Question 3

Version conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove any previous COOLPIX/Nikon USB driver and related Nikon software, reboot, then install the package matching your Windows version and 32/64-bit architecture. Avoid mixing it with Windows’ generic WIA/PTP driver if Nikon software fails to recognize the camera.
