Question 1

Installer fails or rolls back?

Accepted Answer

Nikon’s legacy P90 software/driver package may not run on Windows 10/11. Run the installer as administrator, use Windows compatibility mode, and disconnect the camera until setup asks for it. If it still fails, use Windows’ built-in MTP/PTP support instead of the old package.

Question 2

Camera not detected?

Accepted Answer

Confirm the P90 is powered on, set USB mode to PTP/MTP (not PictBridge), use a data-capable USB cable, and try a rear motherboard USB 2.0 port directly—not a hub.

Question 3

Version/driver conflicts?

Accepted Answer

Remove older Nikon transfer software and any duplicate “Nikon Coolpix P90” entries in Device Manager, then reconnect. Let Windows install the inbox driver; only reinstall a Nikon package if it is explicitly compatible with your Windows version.
