Name: netr28ux.inf Driver
Author: Ralink

Question 1

Install fails or Windows rejects the INF?

Accepted Answer

This Ralink USB Wi-Fi driver is often unsigned or mismatched to newer Windows builds. Extract the package, then use Device Manager → Update driver → Browse my computer → Let me pick → Have Disk and point to `netr28ux.inf`. Run as administrator and match Windows architecture/version.

Question 2

Adapter not detected?

Accepted Answer

Check Device Manager for “Unknown device” or “802.11 n WLAN.” Try a direct USB 2.0 port instead of a hub, reseat the adapter, and scan for hardware changes. Disable USB selective suspend for that port if it drops after sleep.

Question 3

Version conflicts with existing Ralink/MediaTek drivers?

Accepted Answer

Uninstall older wireless drivers with “Delete the driver software,” remove hidden adapters, reboot, then install `netr28ux.inf`. If Windows Update replaces it, roll back or reinstall via Device Manager.
