Name: NEC SuperScript 860 Driver
Author: NEC

Question 1

Driver install fails on modern Windows?

Accepted Answer

The SuperScript 860 uses legacy NEC drivers. Run the installer as administrator, use Windows compatibility mode for an older Windows version, and temporarily disable driver signature enforcement if the package is unsigned.

Question 2

Printer not detected?

Accepted Answer

Confirm the SuperScript 860 is powered on and ready. Reseat the parallel/USB cable, try another port, and check that the correct port (for example LPT1 or USB001) is assigned in Printer Properties.

Question 3

Version conflicts with an existing NEC driver?

Accepted Answer

Remove any previous SuperScript 860 driver and printer queue via Print Management or Device Manager, restart the Print Spooler service, then reinstall the matching 32-bit or 64-bit driver package.
