Name: NEC OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller Driver
Author: NEC

Question 1

Install fails or driver won’t load?

Accepted Answer

Legacy NEC 1394 drivers may be unsigned or incompatible with newer Windows. Run the installer as administrator, use a signed OHCI driver, or update manually via Device Manager.

Question 2

Device not detected?

Accepted Answer

Confirm the card is seated properly, the FireWire cable/port works, and IEEE 1394 is enabled in BIOS. In Device Manager, scan for hardware changes and check for unknown devices.

Question 3

Version conflicts with Windows’ native 1394 driver?

Accepted Answer

Windows may already use its built-in OHCI driver. Uninstall the NEC device and remove old driver packages, then rescan; roll back if a newer driver breaks connectivity.
