Question 1

Device shows as “Generic PnP Monitor”?

Accepted Answer

Check the DVI/VGA cable and selected input. In Device Manager, right-click the monitor under Monitors and choose Update driver > Browse > Let me pick > Have Disk, then select the NEC 20WMGX2 INF.

Question 2

Driver install fails or is rejected?

Accepted Answer

Use the package for your Windows version, run it as administrator, and try Compatibility Mode. If Windows blocks an old/unsigned INF, install the monitor driver manually through Device Manager.

Question 3

Wrong resolution/refresh or version conflict?

Accepted Answer

Remove old NEC or Generic monitor entries in Device Manager, scan for hardware changes, then set 1680×1050 at 60 Hz and reboot.
